Common Questions

What a Handyman Can and Can’t Do

What does a handyman actually do?

A handyman handles the repair, installation and maintenance work that sits below the threshold of a specialty contractor — drywall patching, door and window fitting, flooring, trim carpentry, fixture swaps, deck and fence repair, mounting and assembly, and the general upkeep that keeps a house working. The dividing line isn't difficulty, it's licensing and scale: code-regulated trade work and large structural projects belong to specialists. Here's how Minnesota licenses handyman work.

How should I request several different repairs?

Group your list by room or outside area. Include products already purchased and any access constraints. Your written quote lists every task, the materials and anything that needs a separate specialist, so you know exactly what's included before work starts. One request can mix indoor and outdoor jobs; if part of the list needs a licensed electrician or plumber, the quote says so rather than leaving it off.

Can I book a single repair instead of a list?

Yes. A single repair gets its own flat written quote, the same as a long list, and you approve it before anything starts. While you're writing it up, add anything else that has been bugging you, because jobs done on the same visit share the travel and setup. If one item truly isn't worth a trip on its own, we'll tell you before you book.

What won't you take on?

The honest short list: panel and circuit electrical work, gas lines, water heaters and main drains, furnace, boiler and AC work, roofing, and garage door torsion springs. Those need the appropriate specialist and credential checks, and we'll point you to good ones instead of taking your money first.

One Call. The Whole List.

Send us everything — we'll sort it, quote it flat, and knock it out in as few visits as possible.
